He was awarded the ‘National Award’ by the President of India in 1985 for his unique ‘ebony combs’. The ‘wood craftsmen’ of ‘Nagina’ have been producing ‘carved combs’ in all shapes and sizes, often studded with ivory dots inlaid in the dark ebony surface.
